Michael Grayshon works with drawing as an expanded practice in a mixed-media display of paint, graphite, ink, canvas, paper, and collage.
He brings drawing to painting and painting to drawing in an abstract expressionist practice that finds truth in a fundamentally open and intuitive way of making. The pencil does what it wants in order to instinctively transcribe an immediate and embodied energy.
His motive is to communicate ideas and feelings without language. Does music need sound? Does writing need language? Is anger red?
